Emily and Equality Win!

We are so proud of Emily - in 6C - who has won a Merseyside Police competition! All the children on Top Site were invited to write a poem for Black History Month, celebrating the theme “Standing Firm in Power and Pride.”

As part of their learning, the children took part in a virtual BBC workshop and explored these important themes further in class. Emily’s poem was chosen as a winner for the way it so thoughtfully captured both the struggle and the hope for a brighter tomorrow.

During half-term, Emily was invited to attend a special awards ceremony where she was recognised for her outstanding achievement.

Emily said she was “Very proud of her accomplishment but also wants people to continuously continue the fight for fairness, irrespective of who you are.”

Well done, Emily – what a wonderful achievement!
