Playworker

Overview

Required April 2025 

Salary: Band B/C depending on qualifications £13,348 to £13,772

20 hours per week, 52 weeks a year Permanent

28 days annual leave with under 5 years' service or 32 days with over 5 years' service, plus 8 bank holidays.

The role involves planning and delivering an exciting range of programmes and activities for children aged 3-11, in the allocated play spaces.

We require a caring, committed individual who has the ability to work as part of the school team and inspire trust and confidence in children. An ability to use IT equipment and navigate the school MIS and booking systems is essential. Full training will be given.

The successful candidate must be self-motivated, flexible and a good team player, who is dedicated to ensuring that Dragon Club is a pleasurable and safe experience for our children.

The current vacancy is for 5 days, Monday to Friday, working 4 hours per day on a split shift (Shift 1: 07:25 am - 8:45 am; Shift 2: 3:00 pm - 5:40 pm). Holiday Club shifts are 4 hours from 8am-12pm, 12pm-4pm or 1pm-5pm)

Qualifications 

 

  • A-C GSCE or Equivalent
  • Current First Aid Certificate or a willingness to undertake First Aid training
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or a willingness to undertake training.
  • Basic Health and Safety Certificate or a willingness to undertake training.
  • Safeguarding Children Qualification or a willingness to undertake training.

                                                                                                   

  • A Level 2 or 3 NVQ Qualification in Playwork/Classroom Support
  • Evidence of further study
  • Willingness to continue training to enhance role.

Experience

 

  • Experience of working with children 3 - 11 in a voluntary or paid capacity
  • Experience of planning programmes for groups of children and consulting with children

 

  • Extensive experience in different settings
  • Experience working with children with SEND

Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues
  • Awareness of safety issues
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Dealing with difficult behaviour
  • Understanding a range of cultures
  • Good standard of Education
