Catering Assistant

Overview

Band B

Hours: 12.5 hours

39 Weeks per year (Term Time Only)

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Catering Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated lunchtime team.

The successful candidate will be required to work 5 days a week undertaking any food preparation duties as instructed by the Catering Manager. Hours of work will be 11.00am to 1.30pm Monday to Friday.

Duties will include daily cleaning of the restaurant and serving areas to ensure hygiene and safety standards are maintained in all work areas.

An ability to work flexibly across the primary age 3-11 is essential as is the ability to become a member of a supportive and hardworking team.

Qualifications 

 

  • Very good interpersonal and customer care skills
  • Basic food handlers (level 2) certificate or ability to undertake this qualification within 8 weeks of commencing role.

 

  • NVQ Level 2 Food Preparation

 

Experience

 

  • Experience of catering/service roles and demands in secondary or primary functions e.g., B&I/education or high street

 

  • Some craft experience, e.g., private care home, fine dining, private school or retail food outlet

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to work with raw materials and undertake general food related duties to the school’s standards.
  • Good craft skills

 

  •  Ability to prepare homemade style dishes
  • Ability to communicate and empathise with parents and carers.

 

Special Requirement

  • Ability to work within a team
  • Ability to use initiative
  • Position subject to DBS clearance.
  • Position subject to references

 

 

Salary & Benefits

Salary from £6850 to £7006 per year
