Year 5 Learn all About Road Safety
Children in year 5 had the opportunity to work with Chris Malburn, our Local Authority Road Safety Officer.
Chris led assemblies and workshops using the 'Tales of the Road' book that explains the highway code and road safety messages in an enjoyable and accessible way. Book and online resource is promoted by 'Think' road safety charity. It especially written to support children ages 9 to 13 and help them manage road safety and the transition from primary school to high school.
The resource contains tips and interactive games to help young road users navigate the workbook quickly and easily. It can be accessed and completed online, or can be downloaded, allowing progress to be saved and continued another day – perfect for children to come back to whether they are learning remotely during half-terms and summer holidays or in the classroom.
Session was well received by pupils.
Ella in year 5 stated' "
I learnt a lot. Really helped me to make good choices when crossing busy roads."
Eliza in Year 5 added,
"The assembly was really good. I learnt that using the safer route is always better than thinking of the quicker way."
